Chocolate Glitter
Add some sparkly fruit powders to your chocolate - it’s like edible glitter. The fruit powders come in three flavours - strawberry, raspberry and violet fig, and have been air dried at less than 34 degrees. There is nothing in them but the fruit they’re made from…and they’re delish! Click here for more info.

Chocolate For Kids
I had a very fun morning today teaching two lovely nannies how to make raw chocolate bars, and how to teach children how to make them. This means that Kat and Yitka can now join Original Chocolate Nanny Hazel, in teaching kids this highly useful life skill(!). They really got into it, loved the flavour and texture of the bars, and had some great suggestions for the workshops as well as coming up...

Coconut Palm Sugar - Nature's Perfect Sweetener?
I’m loving this delicious, versatile, caramel tasting, crunchy, low GI sweetener, ethically grown and processed in Indonesia. Some facts  to tickle your taste buds: Coconut Sugar has a low GI (glycemic index) of 35 (compare to honey at 55 and cane sugar at 68) It is a nutritionally rich product, containing high levels of potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron. It also contains Vitamins B1, B2, B3,...

Raw Chocolate Marzipan Bars
This is a new recipe of mine -a bit like a chocolate version of Battenberg Cake…but nicer! You don’t have to make bars out of it - it will also make truffles, squares, even a cake if you make enough. Ingredients Marzipan Bit: 70g whole almonds 1.5 tsp agave syrup (or Sweet Freedom Mild, maple syrup, honey etc*) 1/4 tsp almond extract Chocolate Bit: 100g melted cacao paste (cacao...

My Latest Passion - Dipped Raw Chocolate Truffles
I was just about to take a second (and final) bite out of one of my latest creations - a Chocolate Dipped Pecan Truffle - when I thought other people might like to see it before it disappeared forever (well until I make the next batch anyway). So here it is, complete with teeth marks. Like most chocoholics, I have always loved dipped truffles - the combination of hard outer coating and squidgy...

Green Juice Cuts Sweet Cravings
I’ve been drinking a green vegetable juice more or less every day for the past few weeks. At the same time, my desire for sweet food and chocolate has gone right down. I didn’t put 2 + 2 together until someone told me that green juice is well known for curbing sweet cravings… Maybe I shouldn’t tell you this as Sweet Sensations caters for people with a sweet tooth! But, if...

The Dangers of Coconut Oil
…in hot weather. Yes, I’ve discovered that there is a downside to coconut oil, particularly when you’re British and not used to the current (heavenly) high temperatures we’re experiencing. I got my coconut oil out the other day to make some raw chocolate bars and dripped it (unknowingly) all over the floor as I spooned it into the bowl. Just wasn’t used to it being ...

Chocolate Tart
Been experimenting today with making a chocolate tart out of what is my favourite chocolate bar recipe at the mo. The bar has raw carob powder, lucuma powder, chocolate powder, sweetener (agave syrup or Sweet Freedom) and coconut oil/cacao butter in it. I made a base of milled cashew nuts and almonds. Not bad at all - needs a bit of work to get the base and filling to gel together taste-wise, but...
