Green Juice Cuts Sweet Cravings
I’ve been drinking a green vegetable juice more or less every day for the past few weeks. At the same time, my desire for sweet food and chocolate has gone right down. I didn’t put 2 + 2 together until someone told me that green juice is well known for curbing sweet cravings…
Maybe I shouldn’t tell you this as Sweet Sensations caters for people with a sweet tooth! But, if you’re anything like me, you probably crave, and often eat, more sweet food than is actually good for you, even when it is full of nutritious ingredients and free of sugar, dairy and wheat. So a way of cutting those cravings, that also has lots of other health benefits (my skin loves it) is worth knowing about.
My green juices always have a base of cucumber and celery and you can just make a juice out of these two vegetables if you don’t have much time. But I usually add other green veg I have in my fridge, such as lettuce, broccoli and parsley. I also add some lemon (necessary to balance the taste unless you’re just using cucumber and celery) and a little piece of ginger.
You need a masticating juicer (prices start from £100) as the cheaper centrifugal juicers just won’t tear up leaves. But you can just do what a lot of people do and use a blender: just blend the veg with a little water, then strain through a nut milk bag or a piece of muslin.
